About The Pack Out Chronicles

There is something really special about a hunting story. I created The Pack Out Chronicles to tell long-form hunting stories from my experiences in the backcountry, and share some photographs of these trips as well.

Finding success in the backcountry provides many opportunities to overcome challenges. The purpose of this blog is to tell the entire story–from preparation to pack out, including mistakes made and lessons learned along the way.

Based in Alaska, the majority of stories told in this blog will be about hunting in Alaska and celebrating the wild places and animals found here. Occasionally, I will share an adventure from trips taking place around the country and even around the world.

About the Author

My name is Alex Roznowski. I grew up in Wisconsin where I developed my love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors from a young age. After college, this passion for the outdoors led me to take a summer job in Alaska in 2012.

Although I intended to return to Wisconsin after that summer, plans quickly changed when I realized the opportunities Alaska had to offer. After going on my first big game hunt in Alaska in 2013, I knew there was no turning back.

After living in various parts of Alaska including 5 years in Homer and three summers as a fishing guide at a remote lodge in western Alaska, I now live in Anchorage with my wife Dharti and bird dog Brooklyn.
